Can Obama connect with working class Americans?
When I lived in DC for six months my roommates and I became obsessed with MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews. We lived for a good "Ha!" after a hard day of work. Since moving back, I haven't managed to get back into the program. But while making dinner this evening, I had MSNBC on just in time for Hardball. I was lucky to catch the show tonight because an acquaintance of mine, Dave 'Mudcat' Saunders, was on the show talking about what Barack Obama has to to do connect with working class Americans.
Some things Mudcat says may sound unusual, but if you can get past the deep, southwest Virginia twang, you may very well find the simplest version of the truth you'll ever get from the political consultants and strategists found on 24-hour news networks these days.
